Cleveland Botanical Garden Offers Several Education Programs

Attorney Hector Martinez owns The Martinez Firm in Willoughby, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. Outside of his work as an attorney in the Cleveland area, Hector Martinez gives back to the community through his support of organizations such as the Cleveland Botanical Garden.

In addition to maintaining nearly a dozen garden collections, the Cleveland Botanical Garden oversees a variety of public education programs. For teachers and students, the Garden offers interactive learning programs based on Ohio Academic Content Standards, as well as professional development opportunities.

Working in partnership with the Holden Arboretum, the Cleveland Botanical Garden provides professional development programming that helps teachers enhance their plant knowledge and create learning activities that they can incorporate into their science curricula. All teacher workshops at the Garden are hands-on and grade-level appropriate, and many of them include materials and resources that teachers can use in their classrooms.

Along with expanding teachers’ knowledge of plants, science and reading, school gardening, and other topics, the workshops give teachers the opportunity to earn college credit in a fun environment. More information about the Cleveland Botanical Garden and its education programs for teachers, students, and others can be found at www.cbgarden.org.
